Dear Yuletide Writer,

Thank you so much for volunteering and loving the same fandoms I do. I'm going to go into a little more detail about my likes and dislikes and prompts which I haven't really done in detail before. Of course optional details are optional so feel free to ignore. I really don't like rape or death fic. Also I'm not a fan of reading relationship fic with a character other than the ones requested. Other than that I'm pretty happy to read anything.

Things I don't like

Rape

Death fic

Bestiality

Depressing for the sake of depressing

Ambiguous endings

pretentious stuff

Things I like

I love romance, not going to lie. I love reading the growth and development of a relationship.

As I lover of romance I of course like the hea - happily ever after. The way I look at it, there is enough depressing crap going on in real life, I don't want to read it in my fiction as well.

I love military science fiction, giant robots fighting giant beasts from the deep, spaceships, aliens

I love fantasy in particular dragons

I like tropes either straight up or with a twist (Arranged marriage, soul bonding, aliens made them do it, fake dating, royalty au, sex pollen etc.)

Alcatraz (Emerson Hauser, Lucy Banerjee)

This show had a really interesting concept - Alcatraz didn't close because of raising budget costs. It closed because everyone mysteriously disappeared. Now in the present day they are starting to reappear. I watched the entire thing on Amazon Instant, sadly there is only one season.

For me the two most interesting main characters were Emerson and Lucy. Over the course of the show we discover that they were in a relationship at the time that everyone from Alcratraz disappeared and Lucy is one of the 63s. This was a may-march turned may-december relationship. In addition to the age gap (baby!Hauser was cute) the an interracial relationship in the early sixties couldn't have been easy.

I'd really love to read something with examines their relationship then and/or now which is pretty tragic - she hasn't changed at all but he has. I'm also interested in what it's like for Lucy or Emerson (it must have been difficult to go there and find nobody including the person you cared about the most and not know what happened).

Or what about making this even more sci-fi and setting it in the future on a space prison? The prison was built in what turned out to be an unstable bit of space. The planet it orbited was evactuated when the prison disappeared, so nobody knows what really happened. Or it was a prison ship that disappeared.

Or maybe Lucy was the one who was left behind. Or Emerson was working on the Rock and disappeared with Lucy.

There is so many ways this could go, to say nothing of the AU tropes out there. Have fun dear writer.

Emerson Hauser: http://alcatraz.wikia.com/wiki/Emerson_Hauser
Character Profile: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTA0xn8XNvI

Lucy Banerjee/ Lucille Sengupta: http://alcatraz.wikia.com/wiki/Lucy_Sengupta

Lucy/Emerson Fanvid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTA0xn8XNvI

Episode 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uw4H4bapMb4

Atlantis (UKTV) (Jason, Ariadne, Pythagoras, Icarus)

Ok to be honest I know nothing about greek mythology. I understand this plays a bit fast and lose with it. This show was cancelled after two series and the ending was a bit ambigious (unless you're like me and pretend it ended a few minutes earlier).

Series 1 was a lot of fun, started with a naked man on beach which is always nice. Jason seemed to be scantily clad at the drop of a hat during the first series, not so much in the second which was a wee bit dark. Also they introduced this love triangle part-way through which didn't really work imho. They'd spent the first 1.5 series developing Ariadne/Jason then they randomly bring in Medea. Nope. Happy to read Ariadne/Jason Pythagoras/Icarus but not interested in reading about Medea. Also aren't Jason and Medea supposed to be related? That kind of thing is bad for horses, even worse for humans.

It would be interesting to read about the progression of Ariadne/Jason's relationship without the big reveal that Pasiphae was his mother and if her father managed to survive.

Or modern day Jason/Ariadne. Instead of Jason waking up in Atlantis, Ariadne wakes up in the present. How does she learn to fit in? How does she meet Jason.Or a secondary school au where they are all teacher. You can just see PE Teacher Jason being oblivious to the chaos he causes amongst the teenaged hormones. Student's spying on their Maths Teacher (Pythagoras) and Science Teacher (Icarus) and posting updates to a locked facebook group.

Or military sci-fi future fic, the gods have taken their battles to space.

There are lots of very interesting options, have fun with it dear writer.

Characters: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/profiles/2v1Kn40VwgB3DwB1qKfsM3J/characters
Ariadne/Jason Fan Vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCgA81HDsPU
First Episode synopsis: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-8y00eo1TI

Sleepy Hollow (Abbie Mills, Ichabod Crane, Jenny Mills)
I really loved this show when it first came on. I loved the fact that the pov character was Abbie and we saw everything through her eyes. Through season 2 and 3 the pov seems to have switched to Crane. Which is disappointing because it's the same thing we've seen a million times before. I'd like to read something from Abbie's pov. Don't really mind what. I do think that Abbie and Crane work as a couple - if Abbie ever realised that Crane is starting to crush on her. The journey of their relationship from friends to more than friends would be interesting.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleepy_Hollow_%28TV_series%29

Push (Cassie Holmes, Nick Grant)

I watched this film having no idea of what it was about and ended up really enjoying it. And shipping the two main characters which was a little wrong when I discovered how young Cassie was meant to be (didn't really pay attention when they said her age). I personally thought there was a lot of foreshadowing in the film that the two of them were going to end up together - I'm Cassie's mom and Nick's dad seem to have set the two f them up. I see Cassie being the instigator and getting Nick to admit to his feelings. After he freaks out. Cassie isn't your typical teen, she was forced to grow up early much like Nick. They've both seen and had awful things done to them - they're very similar in that respect. However, I don't see getting together for at least a couple of years after the film but I can see that a lot of people will find this a pretty problematic pairing.

I really loved watching these two working together. How do they survive for the next few years? Do they manage to rescue Cassie's mom? Do they end up in a romantic relationship? Who makes the first move is really awkward? Does Cassie's drawing improve?

Or what about something sci-fi au? Nick is a washed up space fleet officer who has been busted down to ensign, Cassie is top of her class high flying officer. Or vampire AU. Or something that uses lots of tropes - sex pollen, fuck-or die and then not dying.

I apologise for the mostly pairing requests and the lack of gen but this year has been kind of crappy. Feel free to ignore my prompts if you've got your own ideas. I'll be happy if someone writes me something in one of my chosen fandoms. Thanks for reading.

I'm okdreaming on AO3

comments
